Spencer Marlyn Band came to us from our dear friends over at No Simple Road Podcast last year. The more we talked the more we realized how many mutual friends exist in our orbits. We're excited to help them get pressed to heady wax!
Spencer Marlyn Band is what happens when a looping wizard (Spencer Marlyn) and a one-man drum circle (Scottie McClelland) join forces. Formed in Bend, Oregon by two Midwest transplants, this duo delivers the kind of sound you’d expect from a full band—genre-hopping their way through funk, reggae, bluegrass, folk, and psychedelia.
SMB’s debut album, Something for the Grain takes the listener on a journey through genres, lyrical ideas, melodies, and soundscapes—each song bringing something different than the one before it. This album was created with vinyl in mind, with each track blending into the next for a succinct listening experience.
