Every so often, a record comes through that doesn’t feel like it’s asking for attention. It just kinda has its own gravity.

Dusk Dept. is one of those records.
The core group remains hooded and intentionally anonymous, and that feels less like a concept than an extension of the music itself...deliberate, restrained, and unconcerned with overexposure. Nothing here feels accidental. The record moves with patience, but it lands hard. Really hard.
 
There’s serious gravitas behind it, too. This self-titled debut is being released on Ear Up Records, Jeff Coffin from Dave Matthews Band’s label and features heavyweight contributions from Nicholas Payton, Robert “Sput” Searight, Nate Werth, Adryon de León, and Kateri Farrell — and you can feel that level of musicianship all the way through it.
 
This isn’t a record built for immediate resolution. It opens in layers, reveals itself slowly, and leaves enough unsaid to keep pulling you back in.

The band will be taking the record on the road with a West Coast run in early May, and this feels very much like the moment before a wider audience catches up.
